Possible Delays From China Over the G20 Summit

Seabridge Global Logistics News

Expect delays in shipping from China due to the G20 Summit, which will be held on the 4 and 5 September in Hangzhou, China.

The Chinese Government has implemented many control measures in an effort to reduce pollution and improve air quality for the event.

These measures are similar to the measures implemented at the 2015 APEC, 2010 Asian Games and the 2008 Olympic Games.

The control measures include all factories within a 150km radius of Hangzhou either being partially or completely closed.

Some factories began closing in June and more will continue to close leading up to the Summit.

These closures are expected to have major implications for export and import flows, with fluctuations before and after the event.

We are expecting delays due to supply chain disruptions, however Seabridge is working closely with our Chinese agents to ensure that we have the timeliest information about how the control measures are impacting shipping from China.
