THE Director of Biosecurity has suspended imports of the following class of goods for a period of six months effective from 00:00:01 hours (Australian eastern daylight savings time) on 9 January 2017:

Uncooked prawns and uncooked prawn meat; and

Uncooked prawns and uncooked prawn meat that have been marinated for human consumption.

Applying GST to Low Value Goods Imported by Consumers

FROM 1 July 2017, GST will be extended to low value goods imported by consumers in Australia. Currently low value goods (goods with a customs value of $1000 or less) are generally not subject to GST when imported directly into Australia by the recipient.

EXDOC Billing Has Changed

AS OF 1st of November 2016 the Department has changed billing arrangements for EXDOC generated invoices, i.e. export permits and health certificates. From this date EXDOC invoices have been sent directly to the exporter nominated in the export permit and not the EDI user who has submitted the application on behalf of the exporter.
